This quilt started out as a solid blue square, with overlapping appliqué rectangles made from white bias-strips. I should call them (w)rec(k)tangles. It was an ugly mess. Totally not what I had envisioned.
That, unfortunately, is just the nature of quilting. Sometimes things go terribly wrong. So you just live the the piece until you know how to fix it.
In this case, the fix was re-chopping them up, making more rectangles, and then sewing them all back together. Suddenly, you get something beautiful from a terrible mistake (there’s gotta be a lesson in there somewhere!).
