It’s been a while since I bought a pattern (not including paper piecing) for a quilt and followed it to a tee. But when I saw this cute “Hexactly” pattern from Hunter’s Design Studio, I was smitten. Plus, I’ve been swooning over turquoises and rich blues that keep piling up in my sewing room. So my cousin Caro’s wedding felt like the perfect excuse to marry the two (pun intended!).
Caro is perfectly herself – has been from day one, and remains so today. She is steadfastly determined, a trait that somehow magically mixes with an unwavering trust of those around her and passion for everything the world offers. She is pure joy.
She and her bae PK have built a life around the outdoors and giving back to the natural world, and this quilt ended up reminding me of a river – colors, shapes and the pebble-like quilting I finished it with. So with it, my wish to them as they build their new life in Oregon is one of my favorite quotes that I try (not always successfully) to live by:
“I would love to live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.”
