Over the past few years, my parents have become bird experts. My mother can now name almost any local Oregon bird by its song, and has a keen eye to identify a flash of color as a tail whips by. So for their respective birthdays this year I made them each a pillow of paper pieced bird silhouettes from these great patterns by Tartankiwi Patterns (new life goal = make this whole quilt someday!).
The fabrics are (surprise surprise) Kaffe Fasset’s shot cotton and the silhouettes are inverse of one another, meant to match their beautiful beach house with floor to ceiling windows designed for equal parts bird watching in the marsh and wave watching.
