As I was planning my wedding last year, my coworker Michele brought in these amazing mini cheesecakes to work. At this point I joked that she should make the dessert for our wedding. Michele is an amazing force of nature: brilliant and determined. Because she’s superhuman, that joke turned into reality, and 6 months later she arrived at the farm with 600 heavenly mini cheesecakes. That is the kind of gift that you can never repay. But this quilt is a small attempt to do so – a gift for her own wedding this fall.

This quilt for Michele and Josh was inspired by the Candy Spectrum Quilt on Robert Kaufman’s site. Most of the fabrics came from my (too-overflowing) cabinet of fabric. I started the quilt in San Francisco, with every intention of finishing it by the wedding. Here it is in progress:

And then life got crazy: 16 interviews, a few job offers, lots of hard decisions, a trip to Alaska, a move to Oregon, some difficult goodbyes, a new job and every-other-weekend trips to see the hubs came and went, and the quilt got delayed. Now, a few months later, it’s finally done! Here it is completed, with my new-life backdrop of Oregon green:
